It was difficult starting out and not knowing what all of my duties were. When we hit conflicts in the boardroom I was unable to make effective decisions because I didn't have a good understanding of what my responsibilities were. 

I signed up to the AICD Company Directors Course to get clarity. I thought it would be the foundation training that I needed. 

However, after investing thousands of dollars and almost 6 months of my time studying, I was left with more questions than answers. I simply didn't have enough context to get the full benefit out of the course at that time. 

So I took it upon myself, to do what no sane person does when they pass the course, and that was to go back diligently over all of the study notes and meticulously rebuild my Director Guide from scratch.

I wanted something that I could refer to in the field; Something portable enough to take to board meetings. I wanted something that was in plain English and simple to read. A kind of quick-reference for everything I had learned.

I spent months and months researching, and filling in the gaps and updating the changes to legislation. And what was only ever supposed to be my study notes, became an Amazon No 1 Best Selling book after my colleagues I shared it with, recommended I published it. 

Kerboom - just 6 weeks after launching the book, I was at #10 in Amazon and sharing the bookshelf with titles from the Harvard Business Review. Two weeks after that, I exceeded all my expectations and hit #1.

The book is gathering incredible testimonials and is fast becoming the 'go-to guide for company directors at all stages of experience in Australia. I am incredibly proud of the book and of the impact it is having in our boardrooms.
